Textile Traditions in India: Southern Region

The aim of TCRC as a society is to work towards the collection and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Textiles and Clothing while collaborating with other researchers in this field of study.

TCRC is publishing bi-annual e-Journals, the theme of this issue is ‘Textile Traditions in India: Southern Region’. The southern region is well known for its textiles industry. It is a region of rich resources and technology to contribute substantially towards the growth of the textile craft traditions. Apart from this, southern textiles are well known for its opulent, multi-dimensional and vibrant textile traditions for instance spectacular kalamkari, dazzling kanchipuram sarees, appliqué, embroidery, cotton and silk weaving, ikat and many more. The main focus ofthis issue is to bring unpublished lesser-known textile traditions of southern region with respect to archaeological, historical, sociological, conservation as well as materials, techniques, production processes and trade aspects.
