Textile Traditions in India: Western Region
The aim of TCRC as a society is to work towards the collection and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Textiles and Clothing while collaborating with other researchers in this field of study.
TCRC is publishing bi-annual e-Journals; the theme of this issue is ‘Textile Traditions in India: Western Region’. The traditional textiles of western region are imbued with variety of opulent textiles in dyeing, printing, weaving and embroidery. It is famous across the globe for its fineness, magnificent grandeur, beauty and distinctiveness. These varied textiles unveil the tradition, social status within communities, sub- communities and ethnic groups. It phenomenally exhibits rich cultural and craft heritage exchange yet each style has distinct patterns, colours and techniques shaped from historical, socioeconomic and cultural factors. This issue is aimed to explore the myriad textiles of western region imbibed with unique cultural and religious traditions, the folklore and social status of the different regions/communities that it communicates; materials, production processes, impact, usage and method of production.
