Public Lecture-3: Unique Textiles in Central Asian Collection of National Museum

Lotikadi was responsible in inspiring several individuals to carry on research where few believed was possible. She always found connections between objects, places, cultures and communities. People who attended her Memorial symposium came from Ambedkar University, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Lady Irwin College, Cottage Industry, FabIndia, Outlook, City Palace Udaipur and more.

It was heartening to hear words of appreciation by her peer Jasleen Dhamija, who pioneered research in Indian Handloom and Handicrafts. She spoke about Lotikadi’s younger days at Miranda house, where she would visit Jasleenji’s home to eat sumptuous meals made by her mother.

Kapila Vatsyayanji who was Lotikadi’s teacher and later worked with her on several occasions, had much to say about her scholarly work.

Smt. Gulshan Nanda, Padma Shri awardee and Former Chair Person of Cottage Industries was also present.

Lotikadi’s daughter in law, Ms. Anupama Varadarjan flew to Delhi from Bangalore to attend the Symposium.

One could say, the Symposium highlighted how Lotikadi made an impact on so many individuals and their lives. It was a warm gathering that promised to carry on her legacy of interdisciplinary research.

Hmm it seems like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I’d genuinely appreciate it.
