Metals in Textiles and Clothing
The aim of TCRC as a society is to work towards the collection and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Textiles and Clothing while collaborating with other researchers in this field of study.
TCRC is publishing bi-annual e-Journals; the theme of this issue is ‘Metals in Textiles and Clothing’. Decorative metals have been incorporated into textiles for thousands of years for adornment. The term metal is applied as a collective term for thin, yarn like textile decorations (strips and wires) made of solid metal, metal-coated organic material or combinations. They were found on religious as well as secular objects for several thousand years. This issue aims to discover the mystic world of metals in textiles through the archaeological and historical metal in textiles, their technical studies, types of metal threads and stitches used for embroidery techniques and materials used for brocade in terms of historic textiles, sociological aspects, trade etc.
